The Eyren are a humanoid species native to the planet Eyren.
In the early 21st century, the male population of the Eyren was infected with a mysterious genetic disease that effectively made them sterile, and made future generations be born female. Though people began to panic, a scientist named Ardat discovered a method known as binary cloning to allow the continuing of her people. Following contact with the Terran Federation, several Eyren began emigrating to Terran Federation space. In the Senate of the Terran Federation, it was decided that the Eyren would be excluded from the anti-cloning statute of the Gattaca Act.
In ancient times, they had a polytheistic religion. However, two philosophers known as Janiri and Lucen began to preach the words of a single goddess known as Athame, who they claimed to be their mother. The two soon began attracting many followers, including government officials. Feeling that they were false prophets, the Arvex Empire executed both of them. However, over time, their teachings grew stronger and the polytheistic faith was abandoned.
Their colonies include Sanves, Janiri, Lucen, Niacal and Lusia.
