The Rintanna are a humanoid species originally native to the planet Rintanna Prime.
During the late-26th century, the Terran Federation was covertly surveying the Rintanna. However, the Rukani were shown to have been secretly mining the planet. However, in 2580, the miners unleashed a deadly gas from under the planets surface which began to poison Rintanna's atmosphere. In an emergency vote, the Terran Federation immediately dispatched a dreadnought, the TFS Everest to evacuate as many Rintanna as they could.
At least forty thousand Rintanna managed to be evacuated before the atmosphere of the planet was completely contaminated. Eventually, they settled on colonies such as Geneva and Vienna and were a sight on various Middle Colonies.
